Circles

Open Circles

Women for Afrika offers monthly open circles to our Cape Town and Johannesburg communities.

Are you interested in meeting women who want to further their personal growth from a place of authenticity?

Looking for a confidential space where you can share things important to you?

This is an invitation for you to join an Open Circle. This is a space where we can meet like-minded women on their own personal journey. Open Circles are an opportunity for you to take a few hours for yourself to be accepted just as you are, with support from women in our community. A place among women where you can be your authentic self without judgment or advice. A chance to open your heart, be seen and heard, to connect and be inspired.

It’s an opportunity to experience our community of conscious and authentic women and - if you choose - while you’re here you may work on an issue that’s come up in your life. You are also welcome to simply come and be present, witness and support. You get to choose what is right for you!

Everyone is welcome! Please note that dates may be subject to change.

Woman Within Circles

Sitting in Circle is an experience unlike any other. It is neither therapy nor casual conversation.

Sitting in circle is an opportunity to connect deeply with other women, and to give and receive support on your life’s journey. It is a place of celebration in times of joy and support in times of stress or sorrow. It is a place to question and challenge yourself in times of growth, a place to nourish your spirit and strengthen your heart.

This is about the daily work, the soaring successes, the abysmal failures, the grinding, unresolved ‘stuff’ of life, as women seek to become their best possible self. The Circle is a refuge where you can be heard without judgement or advice. It’s a space where you will be supported to find your own solutions. A place of women’s wisdom. Circles meet as often as the women in the group want to meet: weekly, twice a month or monthly. Many women say that whilst their Weekend was life changing, their Circle supports their ongoing growth, connection and self-awareness.

Creating a Woman Within Circle

After completing the Woman Within® Weekend, women are given the opportunity to be part of a Woman Within Circle. How this looks is an initial guided circle training, either an 8 week or 2 day intensive training, which uses the WW Circle Manual as a guide and includes exercises and to learn tools that will assist each woman in developing communication and listening skills as well as provide her with the sense of safety that she needs to be open and honest with herself and the group. These exercises are designed to prepare women to learn greater emotional self-awareness and to be a part of a circle in a safe, open and honest way. Please read the guided circle training section below for more information.

If you have completed your circle training and are looking to join a Woman Within circle, please email circles@wfa.org.za

Circle Training

Guided Circle Training is training that takes place after your Woman Within® Weekend where Guides work with your group and train you how to hold your own circles safely. You can choose between:

8 Week Circle Training:

This is circle training that takes place over 8 weeks, normally on a week night from 6.30/7.00 - 9.30/10.00 which is supported by guides as you work through the manual each week.

2 Day Circle Training:

This is circle training that takes place over a weekend, on Saturday and Sunday 9.00 - 5.00.  Once this is complete the group will then work through their manuals for the next 8 weeks. The group will get guided support on weeks 4 and 6, with guides attending these weeks, so this is essentially a 13 week program.

Guiding the Circle Training

Guiding a Woman Within Circle is a wonderfully rich experience as you learn to step up into leadership in a loving and supported way. You also internalise the rich information available in the Circles manual enabling you to more authentic in your circles and in your life. To qualify to learn to Guide a circle training, you need to have completed the guided circle training yourself and have been part of a Woman Within Circle. Thereafter you can volunteer to step up to co-guide a circle alongside a Lead guide. You will then attend some training and work closely with your guide to ensure you are prepared for each session of the training. If you would like to be a guide then please email guidedcircles@wfa.org.za
