"The weekend brought great gifts and stayed with me for many months after. Sometimes, seeing the women I share "life" with standing in the queue at Woollies or walking in the forest, and in that quiet moment sharing a glance of recognition, respect and feeling of I know what it means to walk silently beside another woman, the pain and joy of this life and the gift of being a woman.”

Supporting Women For Afrika

Before each Woman Within Weekend, there is a lot that needs to be done and organized within the Women For Afrika community in terms of logistics, planning and registration. In order to ensure the weekends take place, we are reliant on the support of our community of women, who are all volunteers - to be a part of our Leadership Circle as well as to staff the weekends.

Donations

There are many women who would benefit from attending the workshop but who cannot afford to pay some or all of the fee. You can assist a woman through offering part sponsorship.

Volunteering

As a not-for-profit organisation, our volunteers help us thrive. Your shared time, skills, life lessons or donations are necessary to keep this life-altering work alive. If you are thinking of becoming a volunteer, here are 5 reasons why you should!

#1:  It's good for you.

Volunteering provides physical and mental rewards. It reduces stress and makes you healthier: moods and emotions, like optimism and joy strengthen the immune system.

#2:  It brings people together.

As a volunteer you assist in:

Uniting people from diverse backgrounds to work toward a common goal

Building camaraderie and teamwork

#3:  Volunteering strengthens your community.

As a volunteer you help to support Women and the WFA cause

#4:  You learn a lot.

Volunteers discover hidden talents that may change their view on their self-worth. Understanding community needs helps foster empathy and self-efficacy.

#5:  You make a difference.

Every person counts!

Community service and volunteerism are an investment in our community and the people who live in it. Whatever it is you have to offer we would love to hear from you. Please complete this online volunteer survey so we can know more about you and your gifts that you are willing to share.
